The Driver
Born in 1963, Gloucestershire based Barry Benham, owner, driver and team principal of Benham Motorsport is a committed and very competitive driver who has carved his way through the ranks of saloon car and sports car racing since 1994. On numerous occasions Barry has demonstrated that he has the ability to succeed. notable achievements to date include:
1978-1988
Barry closed the door on karting after 10 years having completed with household names such as David Coulthard and Johnny Herbert. During this period he one won several titles which include: Top British driver in the all Africa Championship Finals 1981, Midlands Championship 1983 and 100 International Senior Championship 1985.
1988-1994
Barry used this time to develop his now very successful career as a sales and Marketing Manager for a German Printing Press manufacturing company. He also took advantage of this time to travel extensively around South Africa.
1994-1995
MG Owners Club several top three finishes which resulted in 6th overall in championship 994, 3rd in 1995.
1996
Dunlop Rover Gti National Championship 4th overall and best newcomer award.
1997
Rover Turbo 'Tomcat' National Championship 5th overall with four podium finishes.
1998-2001
MGF Cup several pole positions, podiums, top six finishes. 2001 MGF Cup Championship winner.
2002-2006
MG Car Club Trophy Champion 2003, 2004, 2005.
European Endurance Racing Championship 2004 Snetterton 2nd in class 6th overall in Willhire 9hr
European Endurance Racing Championship 2006 Spa - Belgium 2nd in class BMW M3 4hr
European Endurance Racing Championship 2006 Silverstone GP ran 2nd in class Honda Civic Type 24hr
